The bags are finally unpacked, jetlag has worn off, and our regular life is settling back in as we know it. Yes folks, we had an unforgettable whirlwind 2 week vacation and loved every minute of it! Although I mentioned “unforgettable,” we all know that I have an inexcusably terrible memory (top reason why bunny created this blog in the first place) so I will use this entry to reminisce the good times. Here goes the list of our favorite memories in no particular order:
Hong Kong:
-shopping at Harbour City, Mong Kok, and numerous Muji and G2000 stores; I brought home an awesome overnight bag (for all my LA trips) and bunny got a great deal on a cool jacket (for all his LA scenes). =p
-eating curry fishballs and stinky tofu off street vendors, juicy shanghai dumplings, the tastiest fried garlic crab and the biggest shrimp ever, condensed milk toast and ham and egg sandwiches at Cafe de Coral, fresh and beautifully plated sushi, tasty shrimp wonton mein in questionable sanitary conditions, and a 12 course wedding banquet at The Four Seasons
-sightseeing the beautiful big buddha via a 25 minute windy gondola ride (scary!), the stunning night skyline from the harbour, a smoggy foggy Victoria Peak, having a brewski while watching an exciting horserace at the HK Jockey Club, and an enjoyable ride on the iconic star ferry.
-partying at Derek and Helen’s wedding at The Four Seasons with a live band and a special performance by a famous HK jazz singer, briefly barhopping at Lan Kwai Fong, and drinking way too too much and having a blast at the Beijing Club with the cousins.
Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia:
-lodging at the grand Pacific Sutera Harbour with breathtaking views of the sea, complimentary daily breakfast buffet with yummy fresh off the stove roti, the relaxing pool with a swim up bar, and also where the second wedding took place.
-eating a wide variety of curries, stinky durian, a huge backyard cook out at our Uncle’s house, the softest infamous white bread with peanut butter, and more endless amounts of seafood and fresh fruits.
-zipping around on a jetski, a rough 45 minute speedboat ride to Uncle Ho’s insanely spectacular Mengalum Resort with white sandy beaches, snorkeling, and a lovely home cooked meal to top it off.
Ok, I think this pretty much sums up the highlights of our trip. Bunny, I had such a great time on this trip with you and I am looking forward to many more adventures together!
