Spago Beverly Hills is perhaps one of the most well-known restaurants in LA, and it’s also been home to many Hollywood movie star sightings. When I mentioned that dineLA Restaurant Week was going on this weekend, bunny was excited to see that Spago was on the list of participating restaurants! Aside from the possibility she might run into Lady Gaga, she had just seen an inspiring documentary on Wolfgang Puck and wanted to dine in his flagship restaurant. The fact that Spago was recently chosen as one of only three restaurants in L.A. to receive a Michelin 2 Star Rating only added to the expectations for sure.

Due to some last minute shuffling of plans we ended up going to the restaurant without reservations. Ballsy! Intending to sit at the bar, we were plesantly surprised when the maitre d’ brought us to our table immediately. Our table had a wonderful view of their patio, and the first thing we noticed was how relaxed and casual the interior felt. We also had a nice view of the open kitchen through the ceiling-tall glass separators.

A few of our menu selections that were totally awesome and highly recommended:

  • Roasted Pear and Burrata Salad – with Prosciutto, Old Balsamic and Micro Arugula Salad
  • Grilled Prime New York Steak – with whole grain mustard sauce and buttered haricot vert
  • Kurabuto Pork Chop – with pear-ginger compote, stir fried green beans and confit pork, Chinese 10 spice and port-licorice reduction

Overall, we both felt that the famous LA institution actually lived up to the hype. The food was impeccable and the service was excellent. Would we go back if the $44 dineLA 3-course menu wasn’t available? Possibly. To celebrate a deserving event, maybe. Nevertheless, it was definitely a place to try at least once. For the moment the bunnies are happy with full bellies and we can chalk up another memorable dining experience to remember for a lifetime 🙂
