Hooray! Today is the day that we get to go home from the hospital! It’s been a long and tiring past couple of days, so it feels really good to be on our way home.
We were discharged from the hospital around 1pm, and Daren got his first chance to try out his car seat for the ride home. Despite a few grumpy looks, he didn’t seem to be too fussy inside the seat so that was a good sign. So far so good…
We are so happy to finally be home! What a difference a change of environment makes. It’s so nice to just stretch out and relax and enjoy the new baby room! Rather than sleep in our own bedroom, we decided to bring our fold-out futon into the baby room so that we could all sleep together.
It ended up being a pretty long night trying to squeeze in whatever sleep we could between all the breast feeding and diaper changes. Despite that, we are slowly getting the hang of everything. Who knew how many diapers a baby goes through in a day! (hint: a lot) Our changing station is getting a ton of use!!!
We also got in the habit of logging all his feeding and pooping schedules down at the hospital, so we’re continuing to do that this week back at home. It’s pretty helpful for us newly-made insomniacs, especially when you’re trying to remember the blur of what happened in just the past few hours.
