Say hello to Daren Akira Nakabayashi
Born: July 5, 2014 @5:21pm, at Kaiser SF 6lb 6oz, 20.5 in
The day before…
Bel started her contractions in the early morning of July 4th. By late-evening, they had become more frequent, and unfortunately, more painful. After a quick call to the Kaiser delivery room, they decided to have us come in and have everything checked out. It was now around 7pm and the sky was just starting to get dark. While everyone else in the city was getting ready to watch the July 4th fireworks, we potentially had a fireworks show of our own coming soon 🙂 After a few hours at the hospital (and a lot of waiting and walking around), we were eventually sent home and asked to come back once the contractions started becoming more frequent. We ended up leaving the hospital around 10pm, only to return 3 hours later!
The long road ahead…
Little did we know that the entire labor process would end up taking over 15 hours, with intense pushing for the final 3 hours. In the end, Daren finally decided to make his long-awaited appearance in a final push with the aid of a vacuum at exactly 5:21pm. It was a tremendously exhausting experience for Mom, and one that we will both never forget. We were so happy to see Daren for the first time, and we were completely in love from the first moment we saw him.
Complete Awesomeness…
It’s kinda hard to describe the feeling you get of seeing your child for the first time ever. Seeing something so small, and so fragile, and realizing that you would do anything in the world for him. He’s only been with us for a brief moment, and we both can’t imagine our lives without him.
