`What a beautiful day it was for the bunny crew to take on the class 3 rapids of the American River! The morning pace started off slow and steady as we left Mariah (Carey?) camp, giving us ample time to take in the amazing scenery around us (You know, rocks shaped like dogs and Frankenstein and stuff…). Anyways, things started to pick up after lunch as we artfully dodged a camp of pirate-flagged hillbilly locals with water cannons (lol!), and the first of our class 3 rapids.
Hospital Bar, Recovery Room, Satan’s Cesspool and Deadman’s drop are not usually names you want to be hearing when helplessly flowing down the river, but we took these rapids head-on in full force and have the pics to prove it! 🙂 At the end of our long day, we all emerged from the lower section of the South Fork unscathed and ready for more!
Thanks to Tiff for planning everything, and also thanks to Cattlemen’s Steak house for cooking my Cowboy Rib-eye steak to perfection for the post celebratory meal!
