There’s been a lot of info circulating on social media from different medical professionals lately. According to these professionals, the virus may live on various surfaces for up to 3 days.
Just imagine people at the supermarket touching food items on store shelves, or handling produce trying to find the perfect one? Now imagine those people are sick and spreading their germs over everything!
To be fair, I’ve seen some over complicated videos on how to deal with disinfecting food packages from the store, but I liked this one from Dr. Gupta because it was pretty simple and concise.
I have to admit, I wasn’t too concerned about cleaning our groceries before seeing this video but I have started to change my mind.
Better to be safe than sorry!
Here is my first attempt at wiping off our amazon food delivery that came in today.
The whole process took about ~6 mins to complete (I created a time-lapse so I don’t have to bore you through the whole process, haha). I decided to clean the packages in our garage to limit the exposure to the rest of the house.
Overall, not bad for the first try! I think this process will evolve down the road but for now I think this works pretty well:
- wear latex gloves/n95 mask
- use clorox disinfecting wipes
- wipe down each food package thoroughly
- vegetables/produce will be washed separately in sink
- move treated packages to basket
- bring basket into the house when done!
Also important: remember to not leave the drinks in the garage!
