On Friday night, my family sat down to a big, traditional meal to celebrate the close of the lunar year.

Mom warned that she over ordered and had me encourage everyone to eat more. After 3/4 of the courses were served, I saw that Dean was starting to slow down. So, when the noodles came out, I said that it was important to eat noodles to promote longevity, when the fish came out – it is important for success and dessert – for a sweet life. All of this is true, but buns finally realized that I was just pulling his leg to get him to eat more! The last tradition I mentioned was for us to go shopping for something new to wear for the new year on Sunday – seriously, this one is for real! yay! Due to my request, we ended up at downtown the next day. After several hours of shopping, I did not find a single thing and was ready to head home and relax.

As we were heading back to the car, Dean had us walk through Union Square. We walked by some big tents and crews cleaning up, headed down some steps, around the corner of the big heart sculpture, back up a ramp, and… me: “buns, are you ok? the car is that way.” Buns looks left, then looks right, takes a few steps diagonally, and I was quite confused with his behavior. He pulls me aside, takes a deep breath, while holding me close, says that since I did not buy anything new to wear for the new year, he has a gift for me… at that moment, bunny proposed to me at Union Square, where we had our very first date over 2 years ago. eeeeek! And of course I said yes!

Haha, and that definitely explains the strange behavior – he wanted to propose in the middle of the square, but the tents threw him off and he was looking for the best location to propose. It was a fun-filled, surprising, and exceptionally sweet V day and Chinese new year weekend which we will never forget. Cheers!!
